What A Winter Colt Romps To Debut Win

Drakenstein Stud’s inform resident stallion What A Winter looks to have another potentially smart two-year-old to his name in the form of Tread Swiftly.

Bred by the Hemel ‘n Aarde Stud, the Brett Crawford trained Tread Swiftly justified 16-10 tote favouritism when romping home to a facile debut win at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Wednesday afternoon.

Under Anton Marcus, the colt kicked clear in the closing stages to run out a facile three and three quarter length winner over 1200m.

Second in his only previous barrier trial, Tread Swiftly is out of the Jet Master mare Butterfly Girl

He is the fourth two-year-old winner for What A Winter (below) this season, with the triple Equus Champion also responsible for Saturday’s eye catching juvenile winner Portico, Storm Bird Stakes runner up Winter Stories and debut winners Princekresh and No Laying Up.

South Africa’s Leading First Crop Sire of 2016-2017, What A Winter’s 20 black type horses include this season’s G1 winners Clouds Unfold and Russet Air.
