Vermaak Equine Offer 16 At Ready To Run
Vermaak Equine will be offering a quality draft at this week’s CTS Ready To Run Sale, which takes place at Durbanville racecourse on Friday.
This draft includes two-year-olds by such proven sires as Duke Of Marmalade, Gimmethegreenlight, Oratorio, Trippi, and What A Winter, as well as youngsters from the first crops of the likes of Coup De Grace and Futura.
Cuban Salsa (Lot 1), the very first horse to go through the ring on Friday, is a colt by exciting young Tapit sire Coup De Grace.
A half-brother to 3 winners, notably G3 Cape Summer Stayers winner Master Of Note, Cuban Salsa is a great advert for his sire, of whom it is said, “There are plenty indicators of precocious progeny by the sire around.”
Lucky Seven (Lot 2) is a son of Gold Medallion winner Seventh Rock, and he is from the same family as Cape Guineas winner and multiple champion sire Captain Al. This well related colt is “by the sire of juveniles, from the family of the king of juveniles.”
Chicago West (Lot 7) is a son of triple G1 winner Oratorio, whose numerous high-class offspring include recent Racing Association Stakes winner Viva Rio. This colt is a half-brother to seven winners including Equus Champion and G1 Vodacom Durban July winner Big City Life and to high-class racemare and producer Cash Register (whose progeny include talented Oratorio filly Snapscan).
The beautifully bred Chicago West is “a quality mover with time on his side, just like his half-brother,” stated Justin Vermaak.
Oratorio, whose progeny also include such champions as Military Attack, Banchee, Biz The Nurse and Beethoven, is also represented in this draft by Northern Song (Lot 71), a half-brother to the stakes placed Viking Trail, an unnamed half-sister (Lot 99) to G3 winning millionaire Masai Warrior, and by Flame Lily (Lot 121). The latter, a beautifully bred half-sister to G1 Gold Medallion winner Guiness (also sired by a Danehill line sire), is a “a half-sister to a Gr1 winner, by the inform sire of SAF. A filly for the bonuses.”
Var’s Elusion (Lot 47) is a son of Equus Champion, and proven G1 sire, Elusive Fort, and the stakes placed Var mare Knock ‘Em Out (dam of the more than useful galloper Ready To Rumble). This colt, whose pedigree contains a mixture of speed and stamina, is a “a late foal with lengths to come, not like he needs them. Head, presence, stride.”
Singapore Sling’s G3 winning sire Philanthropist is represented in this draft by Miss Generosity (Lot 64). The latter is a daughter of a Var half-sister to G2 Sceptre Stakes heroine Reflective Image, and is bred on the same cross as high-class filly She’s A Giver. “Speed in the family, speed in the walk, speed in the shoulder.”
Sovereign Rose (Lot 92) is a Duke Of Marmalade own sister to Winter Oaks winner Duchess Of Bourbon. Out of a two time winning half-sister to Equus Champion and short-lived sire Soft Falling Rain, she is “filly by The Duke, from the sister to Soft Falling Rain. It’s already worked for her sister.”
Former champion sire Trippi is represented here by Tripple Jet (Lot 95), a colt out of the stakes winning Jet Master mare Rush For John. He is “by one of the best, from the damsire breaking records. “
The red hot More Than Ready son Gimmethegreenlight is another top sire represented in Vermaak Equine’s Ready To Run draft. The sire of recent Furphy Plate winner Yulong Prince is responsible for Firstamongequals (Lot 101), a half-brother to the very smart Driving Miss Daisy.
