Toffa's Talk

Born and bred in the heart of Johannesburg, Chris “Toffa” Santos can be found at Turffontein racecourse more often than not. He is an ‘A’ student in the subject of South African racing form and has worked alongside some of South Africa’s most promising young jockeys as an agent. He describes himself as somewhat of a “sales junkie” and can be seen at any of South Africa’s premier sales with a catalogue in hand and a plan in his head. It’s a rare occasion that he leaves a sale without a purchase of some sort.

Ever since attending a Jockey’s International race meeting at Turffontein in his early teens with his father and uncle, this was always going to be his industry of choice. The infatuation started with the thundering sound of horses finishing past the grandstand and to this day it’s something that is savored every time he is on course.

Young, knowledgeable and energetic, his network of connections are second to none in the South African racing community.
