South African Connections At Keeneland

There is a large contingent of horses with South African connections set to come up for sale at the 2020 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale (which takes place November 9th to 18th).

Top-racemare Oleksandra, a daughter of Animal Kingdom and South Africa’s G2 Golden Slipper winner Alexandra Rose, comes up in the first session.

Consigned by Bluewater Sales LLC, Agent I, the Australian bred mare (pictured below) has seven wins to her name, with Oleksandra’s victories headed by triumph in the 2020 G1 Jaipur Stakes. Selling as a racing or broodmare prospect, Oleksandra (Hip No 0081) has currently banked over $500 000 in stakes.

Klawervlei Stud’s G3 Robert B. Lewis Stakes winning sire Royal Mo has a weanling Gun Runner half-brother (Hip No 0107) on offer. This colt, also a half-brother to the stakes winning Tara From The Cape, was consigned to the sale by Brandywine Farm and the Gun Runner Syndicate.

Lane’s End, as Agent, will be offering the very smart Inspiressa (Hip No. 304) as a racing or broodmare prospect. A daughter of G1 Ketel One King’s Bishop Stakes winner The Big Beast, Inspiressa showed high-class form as a two-year-old when she won and ran second in the G1 Del Mar Debutante (her only starts thus far). Inspiressa is out of the three time winning mare Lucky Trip, with the latter herself a daughter of Drakenstein Stud’s champion sire Trippi.

Trippi’s top-class daughter R Holiday Mood, whose five career wins included a score in the G3 Hurricane Bertie Stakes, is another mare represented at the Keeneland Sale. She has a weanling colt (Hip No 414) on offer, by reigning US champion sire Into Mischief on the November Sale, with the colt consigned on behalf of Woodford Thoroughbreds, Agent XIII.

Trippi’s relative Evita’s Sister (Hip No 615) is also up for sale, with the Candy Ride own sister to G1 La Brea Stakes winner Evita Argentina consigned by Ballysax Bloodstock, Agent XIV. Evita’s Sister (whose granddam Jealous Sword is a half-sister to leading SA sire Trippi), won twice and she is the dam of Ruling Angel Stakes winner Sister Nation (by Into Mischief). The mare sells in foal to Into Mischief’s high-class son Audible.

The Wilgerbosdrift based Flower Alley’s two time winning daughter Sallyport (Hip No 801) is offered in foal to Candy Ride’s unbeaten son Mastery, while legendary South African champion Horse Chestnut’s daughter Precious Princess (Hip No 1144) sells in foal to US Horse Of The Year Mineshaft. Herself a stakes placed winner of three, Precious Princess’ four winners are headed by G1 First Lady Stakes winner Zipessa (by City Zip).

KZN Fillies Guineas winner Sally Bowles (by London News), who made her mark at stud as the dam of G3 Sweetest Chant Stakes winner Consumer Credit, has a daughter on offer in the form of Sally Dangles (Hip No 1575). A More Than Ready own sister to Consumer Credit, Sally Dangles sells in foal to Medaglia D’Oro’s top class son Violence.

The Sandown Stud-based Irish champion Pathfork (below) is a half-brother to not only multiple G1 winner War Of Will but also to Flock Of Doves. The latter, a daughter of Kingmambo, sells as Hip No 1803, with the unraced Flock Of Doves in foal to Summer Front.

Clifton Stud’s Travers Stakes runner up Mambo In Seattle’s half-sister Bold Lady (by Aikenite) sells in foal to US champion English Channel, while Drakenstein Stud’s five time G1 winning sire Duke Of Marmalade is the sire of Charm Catchar (Hip No 2143), who sells in foal to the versatile Yoshida.

The Judpot sired Equus Champion, and dual G1 winner, Along Came Polly has a Connect weanling colt (Hip No 2513) on sale, while three-year-old Centrifuge (Hip No 3404), a Tapit half-brother to Cape sire Noble Tune sells as a racing prospect.

Equus Champion, and full-brother to G1 Computaform Sprint winning sire Rafeef, Mustaaqeem (header image) is also on the auction. The G1 SA Nursery winning son of Redoute’s Choice (Hip No 3752) is consigned to the sale by Bluewater Sales LLC, Agent VIII and he sells as a Racing/Stallion Prospect.
