Potala Palace Filly Lands Bauhinia Handicap
The Ridgemont Highlands based Potala Palace made headlines at Turffontein on Saturday afternoon, when his talented three-year-old daughter Singforafa won the Listed Bauhinia Handicap (1000m) in courageous fashion.
Trained by Corne Spies, the Swart bred Singforafa made it win number four when running out a courageous short head winner of the R150 000 Bauhinia Handicap.

Ridden to victory by Craig Zackey, Singforafa, who had also finished in the Listed Gardenia Stakes earlier this season before being demoted to second, is out of the Whistling Wood mare First Whistle.
Winner of the 2019 G3 Strelitzia Stakes, Singforafa, one of two runners in this year’s Bauhinia Handicap sired by Potala Palace, took her earnings to R462 1254 with her win on Saturday.
Her Ridgemont Highlands based sire, winner of the G1 Premier’s Champion Stakes at two and the G3 Joburg Spring Challenge at five, made a great impression with his first two crops including feature race winner Dalai’s Promise, graded stakes winners Singforafa and Palace Of Dreams, exported G1 sprinter Palace Chapel, and G3 BMW Politician Stakes runner up Senatla.
Potala Palace has two lots on offer at this year’s National Sale, a colt (Lot 345) out of G3 Champagne Stakes winner Purple Orchid, and a filly (Lot 412) whose granddam is a full-sister to champion, and top producer, National Colour.
