Flying The Flag’s Sister Covered By Deep Impact

Bush Hill Stud’s beautifully bred young sire Flying The Flag, whose first crop race this season, hails from an excellent family, and, if mating plans for 2019 are anything to go by, his female line appears poised to go from strength to strength.

Flying The Flag’s brilliant own sister Rhododendron (Galileo –Halfway To Heaven) was served by the late Japanese legend Deep Impact this year –with the mating set to produce a foal bred on the same cross as Coolmore’s new shuttle sire, and dual G1 winner, Saxon Warrior.

One of 84 G1 winners sired by Galileo, Rhododendron ranked among the best of her generation at two, three and four, while earning in excess of £1.363 million in prize money.

She won three of five starts at two, culminating in an impressive score in the G1 Dubai Fillies’ Mile, before going on to win the G1 Prix de l’Opera Longines at three.

Also runner up in both the G1 Qipco 1000 Guineas and G1 Investec Oaks (behind Enable) at three, Rhododendron went on to land a third G1 victory when accounting for high-class males Lightning Spear, Lancaster Bomber, and Limato when she won the 2018 G1 Al Shaqaab Lockinge Stakes at Newbury.

Out of the triple G1 winning Pivotal mare Halfway To Heaven, Rhododendron and Flying The Flag also number the outstanding Magical (penciled in to visit the red-hot No Nay Never in 2020) as a full-sister.

The brilliant Magical, a winner of nine of her 21 races and the earner of in excess of £3.366 million in stakes, ran first or second in nine G1 races, with her victories including triumphs in all of the G1 Qipco Champion Stakes, G1 Qipco Irish Champion Stakes, G1 Tattersalls Gold Cup and G1 Qipco British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes.
