First Runners For Coup De Grace

Klawervlei Stud’s exciting young stallion Coup De Grace is set to be represented by his first two-year-old runners this weekend.

Coup De Grace is set have a pair of first crop runners in the Welcomes You Maiden Juvenile Plate (for fillies) at Turffontein on Saturday, with the sire’s daughter Danceindamoonlight set to make her debut for owner-breeder Heversham Park Farm, and Coup De Grace filly Flaming Winter set to debut for owners Messrs M J Kapnias and A M Kapnias on Saturday.

Danceindamoonlight is trained by Corne Spies, while Flaming Winter, who was bred by The Alchemy, is from the yard of Paul Matchett.

Their sire Coup De Grace, the only son of triple US champion sire Tapit at stud in South Africa, was a lightning fast performer himself whose five career wins included a debut victory and graded wins in both the G2 Amsterdam Stakes and G3 Bay Shore Stakes.

Coup De Grace is himself a half-brother to G1 winning two-year-old Dancing Rags, and he is out of a G3 placed Storm Cat daughter of Breeders’ Cup winner, and champion, Jewel Princess.

This exciting prospect has an excellent draft on offer at next week’s CTS Ready To Run Sale, with Coup De Grace’s consignment including half-brothers to Equus Champions Link Man and Seventh Plain.
