Coup De Grace Scores First Winner
Klawervlei Stud’s beautifully bred young stallion Coup De Grace came up with his first winner when his two-year-old daughter Safiyaa won at Borrowdale Park on Sunday.
The Gokhan Terzi trained filly pulled clear to post a three-parts of a length win, while scoring over 1100m under jockey Brendon McNaughton.
Bred by Surreyhill Studs, Safiyaa, had been second at her previous start when going down by less than a length.
The filly is out of the Borrego mare Borrego Lady.
Coup De Grace has now had 13 first crop runners either win or finish in the money, with Coup De Grace’s daughter Liverpool Legend finishing second at Turffontein earlier in the week.
The only son of multiple champion sire Tapit (whose son Constitution currently ranks as one of the most promising young stallions in North America) at stud in South Africa, the lightning fast Coup De Grace won both the G2 Amsterdam Stakes and G3 Bay Shore Stakes during his career.
A half-brother to G1 Alcibiades Stakes winner Dancing Rags, Coup De Grace is out of the G3 placed Home Court, a Storm Cat daughter of US champion, and G1 Breeders’ Cup Distaff winner, Jewel Princess.
Coup De Grace has seven lots on offer at the upcoming Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
