Alboran Sea’s Son Makes It Five In A Row

The Rosemont Stud bred champion Alboran Sea looks to have produced a smart sort in the form of Marmara Sea.

The latter, his champion’s dam’s first foal, made it five wins on the bounce when scoring a courageous win at Fairview on Friday afternoon.

Marmara Sea, a gelded four-year-old son of Soft Falling Rain, maintained his unbeaten record on the polytrack and in the Eastern Cape when he captured Friday’s third race, the TAB Pays The Full Dividend, No Limits MR 95 Handicap (1600m).

Under jockey Greg Cheyene, the Alan Greeff trained Marmara Sea produced an impressive finish to score close home, as he bested runner up Dubula by a long neck, while conceding the runner up 2kgs.

The race was a great result for trainer Alan Greeff, whose charges Marmara Sea, Dubula and Duke Of Cards ran 1-2-3.

Now a winner of five of his 11 starts, the gelding was bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein.

His Rock Of Gibraltar sired dam Alboran Sea (above), South Africa’s Champion 3YO Filly of 2014-2015, won five of her ten starts, with Alboran Sea claiming all of the G1 Allan Robertson Fillies Championship, G1 Cape Flying Championship and G1 Computaform Sprint during her brief career.

The Mike de Kock trained champion was also runner up in the G1 South African Fillies Sprint and G1 Golden Slipper, with Alboran Sea finishing out of the money just once in ten starts.
